Asian Astonishments Magic Lecture Series
What others are saying
about the lectures:
"Steve Marshall's magic is the perfect blend of east-meets-west. He's a westerner who has adopted an Eastern aesthetic for magic tricks, and this makes for a totally unique experience. See his lecture!"
--
Joshua Jay
"Steve's lecture had some real useful gems of magic that very few magicians know about. You'll learn fun effects from a real professional who's been around the world making a living doing magic."
--
Kostya Kimlat
"I watched this lecture last week and it was a solid lecture with literally "something for everyone". I came away with 2 or 3 items that are going to end up in my bag of tricks."

"Steve has a wonderful lecture with lots of real user material that you will want to add to your act. People were pleased with the fresh approach and innovative ideas…perhaps living and performing in Japan has given Steve's magic style a fresh look compared to what we do here in the states. I would highly recommend Steve's magic lecture for your club."

My lecture consists of material from my award winning "Asian Astonishments" column that ran for 3 years in the M-U-M magazine and some of my own material.
It contains something for everyone for close-up, parlor, and stage venues.
I have attended many lectures over the years and the goal of my lecture is that everyone leaves with some great tricks that they can perform!
The material in the "Asian Astonishments" portion of the lecture comes from some of the most creative minds in the Asian magic scene today. I have added some additional tips and ideas to the effects after actually performing them many times in my own professional shows. I also offer advice on performing in other countries and what I have learned from living abroad for many years.
I also bring an interesting assortment of magic items and props from Japan to sell after my lecture.
What You Will Learn
For this lecture I have chosen eight of my favorite tricks from the series and combined them with some of my own creations and advice on performing in other countries and what I have learned from living abroad for many years to make this a lecture that will have something for everyone of every skill level and from the amateur to the professional performer. I also tip additional presentational ideas and techniques that I have learned after these tricks were published.
You will learn tricks with rubber bands, cards, a desk calculator, a dry erase board, coins, and even a bunch of lemons.
Here's a little about me:
I am originally from Florida and have been performing magic since I was eight years old. I attended the famous Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey clown college and then spent the next five years touring with The Greatest Show on Earth in the USA and on their first tour to Japan.
I then moved to New York City thinking, "If I can make it there, I'll make it anywhere!" I spent two years in New York performing at corporate events as well as learning the art of street performing on the streets of New York City.
After that I spent the next 8 years performing in theme parks in the USA and Japan including Disneyland in California, Walt Disney World and Tokyo Disneyland where I was the first American performer hired to perform the comedy magic spot in the Diamond Horseshoe Review. I have also worked at Universal Studios in Florida and Japan and Huis Ten Bosch in Nagasaki, Japan where I was hired to open the new park and write an illusion show for them.
I have created my own shows over the years and also written material for other performers including 2 shows that I wrote and directed for Universal Studios in Osaka, Japan.
I am currently living, and performing in Japan and have been here for the past 13 years. I perform everything from close-up magic at the Tokyo magic bars to a "Las Vegas" themed illusion show for big corporate events and hotel dinner shows. If you really have some time on your hands, please check out the cover story that Richard Hatch wrote about me for the M-U-M magazine (PDF).
